Player Development Program and Skills Training Registration

The Player Development Committee at Robson Ranch Denton is dedicated to advancing the skill levels of all club members through a variety of training events. These training sessions will be targeted and designed for specific skill level players and announced through the club newsletter, here, and/or skill level email lists.

SKILLS TRAINING                                              Open to all club members at all skill levels.

Skills Training is a follow-on to the Pickleball Academy that focuses on shot making strategies, court positioning and techniques for consistency and accuracy. The training is normally conducted on the second Thursday of each month from 6:00 to 8:00pm (July - September 7:00 to 9:00pm). Students rotate through three 40-minute sessions of training tailored to their skills levels. The sessions are:

Phase 1: Service and Return of Service

Phase 2: Server’s Transition and Soft Game

Phases 3 & 4: Dinking and the Firefight

Register “HERE” for Skills Training. The first 24 registrants will be notified of their enrollment. After 24 registrations, enrollees will be placed on a “wait list”. It is recommended that they register for the next skills training.

Go to "STATUS"  to check student's Skills Training registration.

BALL MACHINE TRAINING                                Open to all club members at all skills levels.

Training includes sign out and location of the equipment, operational settings for specific training, safety precautions and securing the equipment when finished. No sign up is required, but please show up before 3:00pm. Ball machine training is normally conducted each month on the third Sunday. See the Player Development Schedule below.

REFEREE TRAINING                                                 Open to all skill levels

Training will typically involve attendance at 1 to 3 sessions totaling 4 to 6 hours. The sessions will include training on rules, procedures, and equipment, with practice officiating. The training follows guidelines published by International Pickleball Teaching Professional Association  (IPTPA.COM) . These trainees will be qualified to referee club tournaments as well as other tournaments in the area. For most tournaments, schedules can be arranged so that referees can also play in the tournament. Although not mandatory, trainees should have some playing experience and be familiar with the official rules.   Register “HERE” for Referee Training.  See the Player Development Schedule below.

ALL TRAINING IS SUBJECT TO SIZE LIMITATION TO ENSURE QUALITY INSTRUCTION. PLEASE DO NOT SIGN UP FOR TRAINING UNLESS YOU KNOW YOU CAN ATTEND ALL SESSIONS.
